11-08-2008 Rubberflex, Plastiflex, Foamflex and Turboflex Contact Wheels
Hallam Polymer Engineering Ltd (HPE) leading UK manufacturers of contact wheels are pleased to announce the acquisition of the Rubberflex, Plastiflex, Foamflex and Turboflex contact wheel business from Morrisflex.
The transfer of ownership expands the product range of HPE so that we are able to offer contact wheels that precisely match the requirements for all users.
Existing Morrisflex customers will not only receive the same products using the same materials as previously, but will have the HPE service, quality and design consultancy that all HPE regular customers enjoy.
HPE work with leading Abrasive manufacturers such as 3M, and are able to advise on the correct choice of wheel / belt combinations for all grinding applications. Selection of the correct wheel to achieve optimum grinding performance is all-important. Many customers will achieve substantial savings on Abrasive Belts by adjusting to the correct design of Contact Wheel. |
07-01-2008 Fabricated, Moulded and Machined Plastics
HPE’s newly expanded Plastic Fabrication Service offers the choice of Fabrication, Moulding and Machining technologies when manufacturing parts for customers.
In designing components, HPE consider all manufacturing methods in order to optimise costs. So making full use of advantages each technique offers.
BHPE successfully mould small and medium sized Cyclones in V-Thane®. They have proved remarkably
resistant to wear in a wide range of applications where extreme abrasion is the normal environment. The new technology enables HPE to fabricate much large plastic parts. For instance we recently manufactured Plastic Cyclones for a UK Power Station. The Cyclones stand at over 2 metres high and are used for the separation of flue gases from water..
HPE, mould, fabricate and machine a large range of plastics including Polyurethane, Polypropylene, Polycarbonate, Nylon and Acrylic materials.
Typically these include, Conveyor Parts, Guards, Screens, Tanks, Display Items, Exhibition Stands etc. |
14-09-2006 V-THane® Shore D
V-THane® Shore D is a newly developed Engineering Plastic Material designed for use in a Marine environment or indeed for any application that require Oil and Water resistance and Low Temperature Operation to –40°C.
V-Thane® is totally resistant to ozone and water with zero swelling.
This tough exceptionally hardwearing material is extremely versatile and has been used in many applications over a wide range of Industries.
Parts manufactured from V-Thane® Shore D include Sheaves, Rollers, Track Pads, Guides, Buffers and similar products.
V-Thane® has a proven performance record operating in arduous conditions from the North Sea to the South Pacific. |
29-07-2005 Polyurethane Pump Parts
Pump parts when lined with V-Thane® 11400 polyurethane material have proved to be remarkably resistant to wear resulting from contact with slurries and aggregate during pumping processes
The material has a hardness of 90°A coupled with a superb abrasion resistance that prolongs the working life of pumps.
Both original equipment and used parts can be coated with V-Thane®.
Used and worn parts can be builty up to the original profile and HPE offer a full repair service.
Bodies, impellors and other similar parts have all been successsfully coated. |
28-10-2004 Disposable Agitator Discs
Hallam Polymer Engineering have recently designed and developed a Disposable Agitator Disc for the production of fine pigments.
The V-Thane® Polyurethane Discs are used to agitate zirconia beads and suspended water slurries in continuous throughput Bead Mills, thereby reducing particle size to that required. The new design solves the problem of cleaning and cost of transport by the end user, when re-coating existing discs in polyurethane. Parts are now simply disposed of, HPE supplying new parts from stock. The cost of disposable discs is less than that for re-coating existing metals.
There have been no problems with fitting of the disposable discs to existing set-ups. The new design also improves the seal between disc and shaft, eliminating binding and speeding up disassembly. Life expectancy of the discs is similar to that of re-covered discs and production output is unaffected.
The material used to coat the discs is the same high quality hot cast V-Thane® that has proved so successful when coating existing agitator discs. |
04-11-2003 Encoder Wheels
Hallam Polymer Engineering Ltd. in collaboration with one of their customers have recently developed and manufactured Encoder Wheels for the internal measurement of pipes.
The wheels, to be used in harsh and highly abrasive conditions, are required to give rolling motion and traction to a trolley unit that measures various pipeline characteristics. Parts can be encapsulated during the moulding process and are completely protected from the environment. V-Thane® polyurethane components offer outstanding mechanical properties, abrasion resistance, durability, noise reduction, impact absorption, chemical, oil and ozone resistance.
The customer required the rapid design, development and production of the specialised component. Because low moulding pressures are used in the manufacturing process, tooling is inexpensive and products can be quickly put into production. It is ideal for specialist applications and low quantity production. |
15-09-2003 V-Thane® Polyurethane Suction Cups
Specifically for high wear application, have recently been developed by Hallam Polymer Engineering in collaboration with one of our customers. The design required that parts could be made in small quantities, yet were ideally suited to give the lift required and resisted the harsh environmental conditions that were encountered.
Cup sizes of 2"- 6" diameter were produced to lift highly abrasive board material using multiple cups assembled on the customers' existing frames. V-Thane® Suction Cups outlasted the existing mass-produced cups, and so proved to be an economic solution to the problem. Because of the low moulding pressure, tooling is inexpensive and products can be quickly put into production. It is ideal for specialist applications and low quantity production. |
10-09-2003 Contact Wheels
HAV, White Finger, Carpal Tunnel are becoming the largest category for Industrial injury claims based on new EU legislation for "The Physical Agents (Vibration) Directive. Member states have to implement the regulations by July 2005. Free hand stone grinding for all fettling and manual operations can be replaced by abrasive belt grinding to give better results. Only by choosing the correctly designed contact wheel will the abrasive belt grinding operation give the desired reduction in vibration levels.
HPE have designed their current range of V-Thane® tyred contact wheels to reduce vibration levels yet still give outstanding grinding performance and abrasive belt life. Tests carried out on Metabo grinding machines at an SG Iron Castings Co. replacing conventional Pedestal abrasive wheels on fettling machines with HPE moulded GP contact wheels saw vibration levels at the work piece reduced from over 12 m/s2 to 1.8 m/s2. At a Medical Implant Manufacturer, processing carbon chrome, high manganese and other exotic materials. By replacing Turboflex style contact wheels with HPE moulded GP contact wheels vibration levels were reduced from 6+ m/s2 to 1 m/s2. HPE offer their design and development service to help companies with any problems they encounter with the new regulations. |
