Statement
of Quality Assurance We were assessed and approved by BSI in February 1992 to BS5750:1987 part 2 and have since this time undergone constant monitoring and 'improvement' of our quality system throughout the changes to the British Standard for the last 11 years. However, the recent release of the new standard to BS.EN.ISO 9000:2000 has caused us to review our requirements as a company and the benefits afforded by us in maintaining registration to a constantly changing and ever demanding standard. The main point of consideration is in the level of satisfaction achieved by the current quality system, against the need to use valuable resources in re-structuring over a 2-year transitional period without the assurance that this investment in resources will result in a justifiable return. As a close knit company of 30 employees, we have strived to reduce rejects to an acceptable level and for the last 3 years have achieved levels of 1.5% average reject parts and 1.7% average reject weight of materials used. As manufacture is all manually cast by our workforce we consider these levels to be a tribute to both our monitoring and training techniques in conjunction with our present level of quality management system. Therefore, we do not feel the need at this time to commit resources in the direction of registration to BS.EN.ISO 9000:2000 when we are satisfied with the quality management system currently in place at Hallam Polymer Engineering.
